This is a working expedition built to continue year after year — and the founding platform for two permanent programs that will outlast it. Support does not determine whether the mission exists — only how far the science, documentation, regional alliance, and the next generation of reef scientists can go.
The Rim Run™ and Blue Rim 5™ observation model are built around continuity. The baseline mission is designed to stay active using a disciplined, repeatable operating model funded at the core by Catamaran Dan himself.
Support, sponsorship, and direct contributions make it possible to expand the mission in practical ways: more reef sites, stronger documentation, better instrumentation, improved data quality, wider outreach, stronger collaboration with scientists and institutions, and reduced participation barriers for qualified citizen scientists.
Beyond the expedition itself, support also fuels two permanent programs — the Caribbean Coastal Reef Alliance and The Reef Keepers — that will operate long after any single circuit is complete.
"This mission is designed to operate continuously. Support does not determine whether it exists — only how far it can go."
Support expanded reef observation, improved field logging, environmental measurement tools, imagery capture, and broader scientific usefulness of the annual record.
Help sustain operational continuity and strengthen the long-term field presence required to keep returning to the same reef systems year after year.
Fund the Caribbean Coastal Reef Alliance — the seven-nation cross-border consortium coordinating reef monitoring across the full Western Caribbean arc. Support helps establish trained observers, shared data infrastructure, and rotating national leadership in each member country.
Fund The Reef Keepers youth program — introducing children of all school ages to oceanography, reef ecology, and coastal science across all seven CCRA member countries. Support brings the program into schools and onto reefs where it would not otherwise reach.
Support helps reduce participation barriers for qualified citizen scientists contributing to reef observation and data collection across the Rim Run™ circuit.
Align your organization, brand, or platform with a real-world expedition built on discipline, continuity, conservation, and a multi-year mission across the western Caribbean.
The expedition and its core continuity are personally funded and operated by Catamaran Dan. The mission remains active whether outside support is present or not.
Community support, individual backers, and small sponsors expand site count, data depth, documentation quality, citizen scientist access, CCRA operations, and Reef Keepers program reach.
Universities, NGOs, foundations, and strategic sponsors enable advanced testing, stronger science integration, CCRA infrastructure development, Reef Keepers national rollout, and larger-scale collaboration.
Support expands the mission in the water where it matters
The core expedition is personally funded and operated by Catamaran Dan. Basic vessel operation, travel, and baseline mission continuity do not depend on outside funding.
Financial support is directed toward expanding the mission:
Contributions increase what the mission can do — not whether it continues.
Individual support matters. If you want to help expand the science, strengthen the expedition, support the CCRA, bring the Reef Keepers program to more children, improve citizen scientist participation, or discuss a sponsorship or collaboration path, reach out directly.
